Vermiculite is a versatile, multi-function ingredient for the home gardener. It can be used as part of a seed starting mix, as an ingredient for homemade potting soil mixes, to loosen heavy soils and prevent compaction, to aerate soils, promote root growth, root plant cuttings, store bulbs, improve soil moisture retention, and more.
When used in containers and gardens, vermiculite creates air channels to allow soil to breathe, which promotes vigorous plant growth. Sandy soils can be improved by adding vermiculite to hold water and air, and clay soils can be improved by adding vermiculite to loosen and lighten the weight of soil.

Directions for use in seeding trays: 1. Mix 1 part of vermiculite with 1 part of moistened Premier Peat Moss. Add Vermiculite and peat moss mixutre to a seeding tray 2. Sow seeds according to seed packet directions 3. Gently water after sowing 4. Put seeding trays in a suitable place for germination
